We work at the grassroots level throughout the Muslim World to counter violent extremism before it takes hold, to promote tolerance and understanding, and to foster better relations with the United States.
AUA Team leader Kitty Thuermer is on the ground for Zanzibar and has taken a variety of photos for us to see!
Zanzibar AUA Project Director Ulrica de Silva is welcomed by her old friend Mr. Khalifa R. Said, of the Ministry of Education’s Office of Secondary Education. Mr Said is looking forward to meeting the new group of AUA teachers.
Ulrica and Kitty were delighted to meet Khadija Shariff, who runs the FAWE office – an NGO that is active in 33 countries around the world. FAWE promotes women’s education and equity. Khadija has spent many years in the U.S. and is now happy to be back home. She looks forward to meeting the group.
Ulrica de Silva and Kitty Thuermer are greeted by a sea of school children in front of the Zanzibar Door to the AUA home.
Special thanks to Kitty for sending us these photos – there’s more to come!
