Suraiya, student at McGill University, shared about her time as a research intern at Dian Interfidei, a non-profit organization that promotes religious tolerance, resolves conflict and builds peace among different faith groups in Indonesia. She explained that she chose to go abroad through AUA’s Summer Service Internship program because she wanted to apply firsthand what she had been learning through her studies in International Development and learn more about her Islamic background. Choosing Dian Interfidei as her internship placement site allowed her to explore her two main interests, human rights and religion. The students she spoke to were very engaged in her presentation, and she directed them to AUA’s website to learn more!
