Earn a Certificate in Citizen Diplomacy

The Certificate in Citizen Diplomacy honors those who have worked to build people-to-people partnerships that will strengthen our international relations.

Requirements

  • Completes at least 180 hours of direct service with an AUA partner organization or school
  • Completes at least 60 hours of indirect service preparing to serve as an unofficial ambassador by attending training sessions, engaging in language study and other cultural learning activities, while participating in dialogue sessions in preparation for direct service
  • Publishes at least two articles or blog posts on AUA volunteer voices
  • Completes at least one community presentation that shares the experience of building people-to-people partnerships in the Muslim world
